Es un hecho que los cursos online (MOOC- Massive Online Open Courses, en inglés) han llegado para quedarse y revolucionado la manera en la que entendemos la formación. La flexibilidad en el ritmo de aprendizaje, poder contar con unos contenidos “a la carta”, la posibilidad de combinar distintos materiales didácticos, los distintos soportes, los ahorros de coste… se calcula que para el año 2020, uno de cada dos cursos que se impartan lo hará de manera online…
Por mi amplia experiencia en ambos lados, como participante y tutor de este tipo de cursos, las ventajas que ofrecen superan con diferencia a los posibles inconvenientes, especialmente en lo que se refiere a la posibilidad de capacitación y actualización continúa y el poder centrarse en el tipo de área en la que el alumno quiere formarse.
Las desventajas que históricamente se han atribuido al e-learning, como los problemas para interactuar de forma fluida con el profesor y el resto de compañeros, se han ido eliminando con la aparición y desarrollo de nuevas herramientas que, en muchos casos, permiten una mayor rapidez que los formatos presenciales. Por otra parte, los criterios de evaluación y aprovechamiento también han mejorado enormemente y la gran mayoría de cursos ofrecen ya, por un coste mínimo, la posibilidad de obtener un certificado verificado (certificados que son cada vez más apreciados por instituciones educativas y empleadores). Por este motivo, las desventajas se centran más en cuestiones de carencia, ya sea de carácter tecnológico en algunas instituciones o de conocimientos técnicos o informáticos por parte de algunos docentes o alumnos.
En mi opinión, el mayor problema con que los alumnos se encuentran a la hora de participar en estas acciones formativas es la falta de información (o el exceso de una información sin filtrar) de las numerosas plataformas de formación que tienen a su disposición para encontrar “su curso”, lo que realmente ofrece cada una de ellas y sus características y, por eso, me gustaría conocer cuál es vuestra opinión acerca de este tipo de cursos, si habéis participado en uno o varios MOOC´s y cómo ha resultado vuestra experiencia y, si estáis interesados, echemos un vistazo un poco más detallado a cada una de estas plataformas.
